I had a dream,
A stage, a rectangular room,
bursting with people –
each a different aspect
of you.

The boldest I met first
but left her quickly, unconcerned.

Through the crowd:
I made my way
“How are you?
I cannot stay.”

Eventually I reached
– in a spot remote –
the loneliest, most
ragged little thing.

With her
I remained
until I awoke.
